The Bees' Brand Crushes

Kylie here again this week! We’re in the thick of 2021 and getting busier by the day! This week, we thought we’d go through a list of our favorite designer brands and why we love them. We know it can be SUPER overwhelming when you’re starting to work with your designer. The volume of fabrics, wallpapers, and other beautiful details are incredible. But here, we break down some of our favorite “go-to’s.”

SCHUMACHER

Schumacher offers a vast array; there are so many fantastic options for fabric and wallpaper. Schumacher was started in 1889 (that's right, history lesson time) by Frederic Schumacher. It quickly became a go-to source for many famous interior designers like the classic Edith Wharton and Elsie de Wolfe. Don't be deceived into thinking Schumacher has only traditional style patterns, though. Schumacher has a whole library of options from traditional to contemporary, ikat to toile, block print to embroideries, with some of our favorite classics shown below.

The Bees LOVE using Schumacher in projects, anyway we can!

Check out the Tortola fabric on the chairs and the Talitha embroidered pillows!

Another fan fave: the roman shade fabric is Schumacher’s Huntington Gardens, which inspired the entire design. See how one material can be your inspiration or starting point for a design?!

This office was such a fun project. It even incorporated a space for the kiddos (check out the little lego people showcase on the bookshelf! I want one!). This room's inspiration was the classic Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon fabric that you see on the ottomans and the pillows. It's such a colorful pattern that you can base any room off of it, and depending on what colors you pull from it; the rooms will always look completely different!

Below is a newer fabric from Schumacher - Saku in Soft Black. It makes quite a punch! (Also, Crouton approves!)

THIBAUT

Thibaut is another favorite of the Bees. They also offer an infinite number of wall-coverings (grasscloths, faux grasscloths, prints, oh my!) and fabrics. Another long-running shop started in 1886, Thibaut originally sold wall-covering exclusively. Over the years, they expanded their lines to include fabrics, whether it’s upholstery grade or drapery fabrics. The options are limitless.

We’ve used Thibaut in many projects, both in fabric applications as well as wallpaper. Check out the happy bathroom below, covered with a bright and cheerful Thibaut wallpaper! As the client said, “I go into my bathroom each morning when I wake up, and I just can’t help but smile! What a great start to my day!”

Here are two Thibaut classic wallpapers, Willow Wood on the left and Asian Scenic on the right.

VISUAL COMFORT

Well, we’ve seen a ton of fabrics and wallpapers, but what about the one thing that can make or break a space? LIGHTING. The right ambient lighting is key to making a space feel cozy and warm instead of sterile and washed out. One of our favorite brands to work with is Visual Comfort. They offer high-quality lighting and so many collaboration brands (ahem, Ralph Lauren!)

Check out some of the projects below where we’ve incorporated some of these beautiful fixtures
(let’s bee honest, pretty much any project in our portfolio will have at least one VC fixture!)

ANNIE SELKE

We LOVE our Dash and Albert rugs by Annie Selke. There are so many excellent choices, and we use them ALL the time for busy families with kids and pets. The indoor/outdoor rugs are SO durable and can even be cleaned with bleach. (Yes, I’ve had one in my mudroom for many winters. It has seen its fair share of snowy, muddy boots, and it is still in pristine condition!) We kind of have a HUGE crush on these rugs!
