FOR THE LOVE OF: PATTERN

PATTERN is key to bringing your interiors to life, and it is one of the seven elements of design! Look around, patterns are everywhere, thank goodness! Your interiors would be lackluster without them; and can you imagine our world of fashion, minus pattern? Where would Missoni be, without their iconic chevron?

Patterns add energy, they can also bring on drama and give direction and dimension. You know the Bees are big believers in your home, “telling your story.”  We tailor our client’s environments to suit their personalities and lifestyles. Interior designers love to use patterns— in many forms and in many ways.  Some clients love a bold and powerful mix of patterns, while some prefer a soft and subtle approach.  Often, we see a correlation, bold personalities frequently opt for bold color and pattern.

GO BOLD OR GO HOME, SEE HOW PATTERN ADDS ENERGY

Check out these photos from my right-hand gal. Kylie is fearless with her use of patterns!  Kylie’s home demonstrates her cheerful and extroverted approach to life and home!  Look at the combo of colors, textures, and patterns— love it! This is Kylie’s happy space, and it works beautifully for her family and sweet little Crouton.

BOLD AND ENERGETIC

A little goes a long way! Take a look at this fun family bathroom. This family embraces color and pattern, big time! The Thibaut wallpaper and colorful accents make quite the impression, and in a functional and practical way at that.  The board and batten trim keeps the small space from getting too busy, while also making clean up and maintenance a breeze.

Yup, you guessed it, more photos from our pattern-loving clients! Try to picture this kitchen without the colorful backsplash and accents— it would be a different space altogether!

Dining rooms, foyers, and hallways also present many options for creative “play” with pattern.

And if that is a bit too much for you, how about tiny little doses of pattern? Perhaps in the back of your built-ins, on a piece of furniture, in your rug, or as artwork. Use your imagination— the options are limitless!

This client wanted a bright and feminine work environment, and we had fun delivering it! A happy home and work environment really does make an enormous difference in your quality of life. We could spend hours working away in this home office.

This classic kitchen gets an injection of color and pattern with a family friendly indoor-outdoor runner, and when they tire of it they can change up the look quickly and easily!

The use of patterns can be soft and soothing for less daring souls or for spaces that call for a soft touch. Here our clients wanted a spa-like environment for their master bath. The herringbone tile pattern gives the space visual interest but in a way that is quiet and soothing. The direction of the tile points you towards that wonderful focal point, and makes you want to lock the door and hop in for a long soak!

This Cape project called for elements that respected the architecture and history of this warm and welcoming Captain’s Home. The pattern of the painted brick backsplash is the perfect complement to all the timeless and classic layers. I don’t think I would ever tire of this amazing space!

Needless to say, the Bees LOVE using patterns to bring a space to life and to inject life and personality that is tailored to resonate with our clients. Details matter, so let’s bring on the layers and add other important elements such as texture! Now you’re talking! Your space will begin to feel warm, welcoming, and interesting.

Speaking of seasonally, look how warm and welcoming the Bee’s studio porch looks with this autumnal theme! We hate to say goodbye to summer, but there is nothing like fall in New England!
